Meandering II

‘Turn the Corner’, 2010

Exhibition
StAnza Int’l Poetry Festival, St Andrews

The sculpture installation Meandering II responds to the poem The Silver Stag by Dawn Wood. It was installed at the fenced holm oak in St Mary’s Quad linking with the notion of nature conservation. The sculpture was used as a starting point and inspiration for a series of creative writings at StAnza International Poetry Festival 2010.

The installation shows the lifeless form of a fallow deer at the far side of the holm oak, moments after it has been shot. It is a reminder of human interference with the natural world, the mixed motivations for hunting – the need for culling and the quest for a trophy.
